BorgWarner says it can present 800 V silicon carbide (SiC) inverters to “a significant world OEM,” along with the 400 V inverters it already provides to the corporate.

BorgWarner will provide two variants of the inverters: a 250 kW model will likely be utilized in passenger automobiles and all-wheel-drive crossovers, and a 350 kW module will likely be used within the OEM’s efficiency automobiles. 

BorgWarner says its Viper-based silicon and SiC energy modules present 400 V and 800 V inverters with low mass, excessive effectivity, glorious scalability and excessive energy densities. BorgWarner inverters are customizable from 150 to 350 kW.

BorgWarner says manufacturing of the brand new inverters will start in 2025. Peak annual quantity will likely be close to 400,000 models.
